HISTORY OF THE SENECA MOTORCAR COMPANY
Located in Fostoria, OH, the Seneca Motorcar Company was organized in 1917. The company produced three to five automobiles per day, with the majority going overseas to such countries as Australia, China and Borneo. Seneca Motorcar prospered for several years until Henry Ford introduced the Ford Model T and perfected assembly line mass production. Seneca could not compete with the new production techniques and ceased producing cars in 1924.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
The Records of the Seneca Motorcar Company date from 1913 to the 1920’ s and occupy 3 cubic feet. The records are arranged into three series. The bulk of the collection consists of photographs and blueprints.
ORGANIZATION OF THE COLLECTION
Series I: Manuscript
Contains a selection of business records including production reports, meeting minutes, stockholder information, correspondence, financial reports, sales brochures and catalogs.
