B i o g r a p h i c a l s k e t c h : R o b e r t Roy Reeves S r , was b o r n on J u n e 2 1 ,
1886, i n Kansas City, M i s s o u r i . He a t t e n d e d Kenyon C o l l e g e ,
G a m b i e r , O h i o , f o r t w o y e a r s . I n 1908 he o b t a i n e d h i s a r c h i t e c t u r e
d e g r e e f r c m C a r n e g i e T e c h n i c a l I n s t i t u t e w h e r e he was a member of
D e l t a Kappa E p s i l o n f r a t e r n i t y . I n 1911 he m a r r i e d H e l e n G e s t ; t h e
c o u p l e h a d a son, R o b e r t Roy Reeves J r . , who a l s o became an a r c h i t e c t .
The e l d e r Reeves w o r k e d i n t h e Columbus, O h i o , o f f i c e o f F r a n k C .

M i l l e r a n d Reeves w i t h O r l a n d o C . M i l l e r u n t i l 1 9 2 8 . A f t e r M i l l e r
l e f t t h e f i r m i t was known as R o b e r t R. Reeves, A r c h i t e c t .
Reeves s e r v e d as Columbus c h a p t e r p r e s i d e n t o f t h e A m e r i c a n I n s t i t u t e
o f A r c h i t e c t s i n 1922 and h i s f i r m b e l o n g e d t o t h e a s s o c i a t i o n known
as t h e A l l i e d A r c h i t e c t s t h a t d e s i g n e d t h e Columbus City H a l l c i r c a
1926. Among t h e b e s t known e x a m p l e s of Reeves's w o r k i s t h e YMCA a t
65 S o u t h F o u r t h S t r e e t , a G e o r g i a n d e s i g n w h i c h won t h e a r c h i t e c t
an a w a r d i n t h e G r o s w o l d M e m o r i a l C o m p e t i t i o n i n 1 9 2 3 . The f o l l o w -
i n g y e a r , Reeves was c o m m i s s i o n e d t o c o n s t r u c t a h o s p i c e i n
M o n t f a u c o n , F r a n c e , a s a war m e m o r i a l f o r t h e O h i o 3 7 t h D i v i s i o n .
From 1 9 2 7 t o 1932, Reeves d e s i g n e d a r e s i d e n t i a l d e v e l o p m e n t on E a s t
B r o a d S t r e e t , B e x l e y , O h i o , known as S e s s i o n s V i l l a g e . I n t e r r u p t e d
by t h e G r e a t D e p r e s s i o n and R e e v e ' s d e a t h on May 1 5 , 1937, t h e p r o j e c t
was c o m p l e t e d by h i s son R o b e r t R. Reeves J r .
