O r g a n i z a t i o n a l s k e t c h : The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and
J o i n e r s ( CJA) Local 976 was c h a r t e r e d i n Marion, Ohio, on J u l y 7,
1919. The l o c a l encompasses t h e Ohio c o u n t i e s of Marion, Wyandot,
Morrow, Union, and Delaware. In 1968 C a r p e n t e r s Local 1287,
Delaware, merged i n t o Local 976. Local 976 i s governed by a
p r e s i d e n t , v i c e - p r e s i d e n t , recording s e c r e t a r y , t r e a s u r e r ,
warden, f i n a n c i a l s e c r e t a r y ( who i s a l s o the b u s i n e s s r e p r e s e n t a -
t i v e ) , and t h r e e t r u s t e e s . The l o c a l was a member of the North
C e n t r a l Ohio D i s t r i c t Council of Carpenters u n t i l 1967 when i t
j o i n e d t h e Capital D i s t r i c t Council of C a r p e n t e r s .

Scope and c o n t e n t : The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and
J o i n e r s Local 976 r e c o r d s d a t e from 1928 to 1982 and occupy two

correspondence, f i n a n c i a l r e c o r d s , and minutes of Local 976;
minutes of C a r p e n t e r s Local 1287; and minutes of the C a p i t a l
