through t h e auspices o f the d i r e c t o r , Kenneth L. Drum,
Columbus, Ohio, i n October 1981. David Gray prepared the
preliminary inventory i n October 1981.

Organizational r Association was founded
by hembers of- t h e ' Buckeye Press Association at- Buckeye Lake, Ohio,
in July 1927. The Select L i s t of ohio Dailies and t h e Associated
Ohio D a i l i e s merged with the Ohio Newspaper Association i n 1933.
The purpose of t h e Ohio Newspaper Association is to encourage
g r e a t e r understanding and cooperation among publishers of news-papers
i n Ohio and t o promote the i n t e r e s t s of t h e newspaper
industry. The Ohio Newspaper Associ is a non- profit 0rgani-zation
governed by a board of t r u s t e

Scope and content: The Ohio Newspaper Association ( ONA) Records
date from 1927 to 1980 and occupy t h i r t e e n cubic f e e t . The
c o l l e c t i o n provides a comprehensive p i c t u r e of the purpose and
function of a major Ohio trade association. The records are
arranged i n a rough a l p h a b e t i c a l sequence r e f l e c t i n g t h e various
subjects of i n t e r e s t t o ONA. Within the f i l e s t h e correspondence,
memoranda, r e p o r t s , p u b l i c a t i o n s , minutes, and newspaper clippings
are arranged i n a rough reverse chronological order. Researchers
a r e advised t o check a l l f i l e s thoroughly when pursuing a s p e c i f i c
