Bolen, in March 1981. David Gray prepared the preliminary inventory i n April 1981. Property r i g h t s : The Ohio H i s t o r i c a l Society owns the property r i g h t s t o t h i s c o l l e c t i o n . Copyrights: The Ohio Bankers Association has dedicated such copyrights as it possesses i n t h i s c o l l e c t i o n t o the public. Consideration of a l l other copyrights is t h e r e s p o n s i b i l i t y of the author and publisher. Access: Boxes 15 and 18 are r e s t r i c t e d . Researchers must sign the Ohio H i s t o r i c a l Society Confidentiality Agreement bei ore using boxes 15 and 18. Boxes 1 - 1 4 , and 16- 17, are open under the r u l e s and regulations of the Ohio H i s t o r i c a l Society. Citation: Researchers are requested t o cite c o l l e c t i o n name, c o l l e c t i o n number, and the Ohio H i s t o r i c a l Society i n a l l foot-note and bibliographic references. Transfer: Various photographs and convention pins, ca. 1 8 9 1 to 1975, were t r a n s f e r r e d t o t h e Audiovisual Department in April 1981. Nineteen Ohio bank notes, 1816 t o 1861, were t r a n s f e r r e d to the History Department in April 1 9 8 1 . ,' Organizational sketch: The Ohio Bankers Association was organized by 125 Ohio bankers on November 5, 1891, in Columbus, Ohio. The O. B. A. was established " to promote the general welfare and usefulness of banks and banking i n s t i - t c t i o n s , to secure the ... b e n e f i t s derived from personal acqua1Mances and ... discussion of subjects of importance t o the banking and commercial i n t e r e s t s of t h e S t a t e ' o f Ohio, ... t o secure the proper consideration of questions regard-ing the ... customs and laws which a f f e c t the banking i n t e r e s t s ..., and for protection a g a i n s t l o s s . " Working t o promote and improve the banking industry i n Ohio, the O. B. A. uses s p e c i a l i s t s within the banking profession t o inform and represent its members i n such areas as bank l e g i s l a t i o n , investments, t a x a t i o n , bank s e c u r i t y , and operations. Any l e g a l l y incorporated bank may become a member of the O. B. A. The O. B. A. is a p r i v a t e , n o n - p r o f i t organization governed by a board of d i r e c t o r s . The Ohio Fiduciaries Research Association was organized in 1940 by various Ohio t r u s t companies " to secure a concentrated e f f o r t in the s o l u t i o n of some of the l e g a l , l e g i s l a t i v e , and operational problems" facing t r u s t i n s t i t u t i o n s . Due t o some duplication of e f f o r t i n the service of t r u s t i n s t i t u t i o n s , the Ohio Fiduciaries Research Association merqed with the Trust Division of the Ohio Bankers Association on Source: Ohio Bankers A , MSS 743.
