HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
The headquarters of the County Savings Bank is listed in the 1992 Columbus City Directory as being located on E. State Street. Additionally, the directory lists bank branches on E. Broad Street and N. High Street.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
The collection contains 246 photographs on cards measuring 8 x 13 centimeters. The photographs, which date from 1934 to 1937, primarily document residential homes in Franklin, Licking, Pickaway and Ross counties on which the County Savings Bank held mortgages. A very few cards document office buildings and storefronts. In addition to photographs of the property, owners names, location, value and loan information are also recorded. Homes pictured are in urban neighborhoods and rural areas.
ORGANIZATION OF THE COLLECTION
Photographs are filed in alphabetical order by the surname of the property owner or trustee recorded on the top left corner of the cards. If an owner’s name was crossed out, the card was filed by the last name recorded on the card. Photographs of cards documenting property owned by companies are filed last.
