HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
Erwin C. Zepp attended The Ohio State University and graduated in 1928 with a degree in landscape architecture. After doing post graduate work in Europe and teaching at the University for several years he joined the staff of the Ohio Historical Society as Assistant Curator of State Memorials. Eventually Zepp was promoted to Vice- Director of the Society. In 1947 he was named Director of the Society, a position that he held until 1964. During Mr. Zepp’s tenure at the Society he oversaw the acquisition or increase in size of over thirty State Memorials and the addition of many significant historical materials to the Archives/ Library and Museum collections. Mr. Zepp passed away in 1984.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
The collection is comprised of 17 glass plate negatives depicting interior and exterior views of buildings on the Ohio State University campus. Information recorded on the envelopes from which the negatives were removed indicates that the photographs were taken in April and May 1928 by Erwin C. Zepp while he was a student in the Department of Architecture at Ohio State University. Campus buildings represented in the collection include the Administration Building, Education Building, Faculty Club, Gymnasium, Hayes Hall, Law Building, Lord Hall, Ohio Stadium, Orton Hall, Pomerene, the President's House from Mirror Lake, Prexy’s House and University Hall. The collection also includes a glass plate picturing Ohio’s first governor’s mansion located on 1234
