HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
Fannie Sapp ( 1885- 1979) and Harry W. Koons ( 1884- 1962) grew up in the Mt. Vernon, Ohio area. Fannie, the daughter of a merchant, and Harry, the son of an attorney / dean of the Knox County bar association, met and married in 1908. Harry stayed in the area and became an attorney. The couple raised one daughter named Elizabeth Ann Koons.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
This collection contains photographs and printed material related to the families of Harry and Fannie Sapp Koons. The majority of the material covers family and organizations in the Mt. Vernon, Knox County area. A wedding book holds details of Harry W. and Fannie’s wedding and is found along with early pictures and portraits of the couple. A 1929 magazine printed at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio is also included in the collection.
