SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
Collection is comprised of 211 photographs, 4 report cards of Grace Jones and two pieces of ephemera. A variety of photographic formats are found in the collection, including card photographs, photographic postcards, snapshots and tintypes. There are some snapshots, while the majority of photographs are posed portraits. Few people pictured in the collection are identified. Photographers marks on portraits indicate they were taken in towns and cities across Ohio including, Cleveland, Columbus, Jackson, Marion, Springfield and Toledo, among others. There are also photographs taken out of state in Chicago, Illinois and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as well as locations in Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. The photographs of buildings and places are mostly unidentified. Captions on the back of seven vacation photographs seem to indicate they were taken on a trip to California.
Report cards of Grace Jones for two terms of second grade are dated December 3, 1897 and March 11, 1898 respectively. They are Jackson Union Schools. Her 4th grade report card for the 1899- 1900 school year and fifth grade report card for the 1900- 1901 school year were from Columbus Public Schools. The report cards were signed by her mother, Emma Jones. Miscellaneous items include a memorial card for Thomas O. Blair who died on January 21, 1892 and a holiday card signed “ Cordial Holiday Greetings, John Harvey Kellog, 1925- 1926.” On the front of the card is a photograph of a man who is possibly Kellog.
