OHIO H I S T O R Y MSS 92 International Brotherhood of E l e c t r i c a l Workers Local 54 Records 1/ 2 cubic foot Final Inventory 1 COLLECTION SYNOPSIS Provenance: Warren Van Tine donated the records of the International Brotherhood of E l e c t r i c a l Workers Local 54, to the Ohio Historical Society i n October, 1971. The records were accessioned as the A. Z. Larison Papers. The papers w e r e found i n a house owned by Larison and subsequently purchased by Mr. Van Tine. Transfer: Five volumes were transferred t o the Library and a book of monthly dues stamps and a c e r t i f i c a t e were transferred t o the Audio- Visual Department. Biographical Sketch: Alonzo Z. Larison was financial secretary of IBEW Local No. 54, f i r s t business manager of IBEW Local No. 683, vice- president of the Columbus Independent Building Trades Council and president of the Columbus AF of L. Scope and Content: The records of the I n t e r n a t i o n a l Brotherhood of E l e c t r i c a l Workers Local 54 contain minutes, correspondence, conven-tion proceedings, and issues of The E l e c t r i c a l Worker. The material is arranged chronologically by type. The collection covers the period from 1908 to 1914 with the bulk of the material dated 1911 and 1912. The minutes, 1912, a r e from the Columbus Independent Building Trades Council and they documented the council's every-day operations. The correspondence, 1909, 1911- 1913, and undated reveals the l o c a l ' s relationship with the I n t e r n a t i o n a l and the D i s t r i c t o f f i c e s of the IBEW. The correspondence contains a small amount of information on the Ohio Constitutional Amendments election of September 3, 1912 and some information on women's sufferage. Among the correspondents are J. J. Reid, president, and J . W . Murphy, general secretary of t h e I n t e r n a t i o n a l and J. J.
