HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
The Masonry Contracting Company was located at 131 E. State Street in Columbus, Ohio. They were first listed in the Columbus City Directory in 1946. An advertisement for the company that ran in the 1947 Columbus City Directory described their company as “ Contractors for Every Type of Building Maintenance.” Services they offered included building cleaning, caulking, chimney repairs, concrete restoration, general masonry, sand blasting, tuck pointing and waterproofing. Tracing the company through the city directories it appears that the company’s name changed in 1950 to the Frank P. Meglan Co. They are not listed in the directories after 1952. The company name may have changed again. Companies called the Masonry Repair Company and the Meglen Masonry Company are listed in the Columbus directories in the 1950' s and 1960' s.
