COLLECTION SYNOPSIS
Provenance: In 1935, Helen E. Jacoby of Indianapolis, Indiana, gave t o
The Ohio Historical Society The Michael Jacoby Papers, consisting of
Eaton and Jacoby families' l e t t e r s , notebooks, documents and other papers.
She subsequently gave additional papers which were integrated with the
collection. Processing was completed in Deceinber, 1978 by Linda Elise
Kalette.
Property Rights: The Ohio Historical Society holds the property r i g h t s
t o the Michael Jacoby Papers.
Copyrights have - not been dedicated to the public. Consideration of the
requirements of copyright are the r e s p o n s i b i l i t y of the author and
publisher.

Biographical Sketch: Biographical information about Michael Jacoby and
Eaton family members may be found i n the Michael Jacoby Papers, Box 1,
Folder 7, Ohio H i s t o r i c a l Society. Michael Jacoby was a J u s t i c e of the
Peace; Joseph Eaton was a J u s t i c e of the Peace and s t a t e l e g i s l a t o r ;
George Eaton was president of Hamilton College, Hamilton, New York; and
James Eaton was a s t a t e senator. Additional information may be found
in Marion and Delaware County h i s t o r i e s in the Ohio Historical SocieL- y
Library.
Scope and Content: The Michael Jacoby Papers span the period from 1806
to 3935. They include papers of Eaton family members as well as of
Michael Jacoby. The papers are few and there is l i t t l e correspondence.
There are account books, college papers and an autograph book of the
Eaton family, a few l e g a l documents r e l a t i n g t o Michael Jacoby's
o f f i c i a l duties and some helpful biographical sketches by Helen Jacoby.
