Organizational sketch: The Ohio National Organization for Women
( NOW) was established in 1971 and incorporated in 1973 as an
a f f i l i a t e of the national organization to work toward an end to
sex discrimination. The s t a t e organization is governed by a .
president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer, elected
annually. These officers and a representative from each local
chapter in Ohio comprise the board of directors, which meets
monthly to conduct routine business. A yearly s t a t e conference,
open to a l l members, is held t o elect officers, amend by- laws,
and review annual reports of officers and committees.

Scope and content: The Ohio National Organization for Women
Records consist of three cubic feet of office f i l e s dating from
1971 to 1982. The material is arranged in two series. Series I
consists of subject f i l e s from the state chapter and Series I1
consists of correspondence and newsletters from local chapters.
The material documents the a c t i v i t i e s of the organization as well
as many women's issues.
Series I, s t a t e chapter f i l e s , is arranged in alphabetical order
and dates from 1972 to 1982. The material includes correspondence,
minutes, and publications from the Ohio NOW in addition to
material from the national organization.
