Scope and content: The papers of Gerard Fowke, 1907- 1939, contained in two
Hollinger boxes, include one folder of correspondence r e l a t i n g t o h i s work
i n the f i e l d of archaeology. The remainder of the collection consists of
d r a f t s of h i s a r t i c l e s ( including 13 notebooks containing d r a f t s of research
a r t i c l e s , and two d r a f t s of " The Evolution of the Ohio River"), one folder
of miscellanea ( includes p e t i t i o n o f f i c i a l l y changing h i s name to Fowke),
and three miscellaneous volumes ( Trips, 1918- 1928; addresses, n. d.; and " Books
worth reading," n. d.).
